PsyMood
PsyMood is a Canadian startup in the health tech industry, a web-based platform where you can find mental health support based on the language you speak, your culture, religion, and more.
It was developed in Toronto with the support of incubators and startup accelerators such as Accelerator Centre, Parkdale Centre for Innovation, and LatAm Startups.
Situation
In 2020, I had the chance to meet with Fred and Rod, the Startup Co-Founders. They were working on the idea alongside other professionals to build the platform.
At that time, I was operating my own studio, and PsyMood were part of an accelerator program. They approached me for assistance in launching their MVP in just 3 months.
Project Overview
Tasks
My task was to create the PsyMood MVP, essentially a new platform from scratch where patients could search for and make virtual appointments with counselling specialists and therapists.
Additionally, specialists could create their profiles and make themselves available on the platform.
System and Components
Activities
As the project leader, I was responsible for not only working as a UI & UX Designer, delivering wireframes, initiating a new design system, and creating mockups, but also for project management, prioritizing MVP features, planning, and handing off to development.
With agile principles in mind, we divided the project into 6 sprints and used Figma as the primary UI & UX tool. We worked on the following steps:

Results
We succeeded in launching their platform on time, and since then, PsyMood has been growing rapidly.
Currently, they have over 650 culturally diverse specialists providing mental health therapy remotely, based on language or culture.
